Constraint Therapy is the revolutionary brain-based treatment that “rewires” the brain helping people improve the function of their hand and arm after stroke, cerebral palsy and some other neurological conditions. We are a private clinic based in Perth, Western Australia, that provides Constraint Therapy.
Please telephone the clinic on 1800 751 079 to find out more about how Constraint Therapy can help you or someone you know.
Constraint Therapy, also known as Constraint Induced Therapy (CIT) or Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT), works by harnessing the brain’s natural ability to change its own structure and function, a process known as neuroplasticity.
Constraint Therapy was developed by Prof. Edward Taub at The University of Alabama, USA.
Prof. Taub is a neuroscientist whose work has been described as at the “forefront of a revolution” in rehabilitation. Prof. Taub and his work are famously featured in the internationally best-selling book “The Brain That Changes Itself” by Dr. Norman Doidge, in which he describes how stroke victims learn to move and speak again after Constraint Therapy.
